TWO TRAVELLERS AND THE BEAR

A strong young man was passing through a forest. He met another and began to boast of his bravery. Suddenly a big bear appeared from behind a bush. He was filled with fear. He climbed up the nearest tree to save himself. The other lay down on the ground and held his breath. The bear came straight towards him and smelt him all over. It felt sure that he was dead, and went its way. The boaster came down after a while and asked his companion, “What did the bear say in your ear?”

“Oh my dear!” Said he, “it only advised me not to put any trust in braggarts.”

مردی پرزور و جوان از جنگلی می‌گذشت. در راه، مرد دیگری را دید و شروع کرد به تعریف کردن از شجاعتش. ناگهان خرسی از پشت بوته‌ای بیرون آمد. وجود مرد پر از ترس شد. برای این که خودش را نجات بدهد، از نزدیکترین درخت بالا رفت. آن یکی روی زمین دراز کشید و نفسش را نگه داشت. خرس یکراست به طرفش آمد و تمام بدنش را بو کشید. خرس مطمئن شد که او مرده و به راه خودش رفت. مرد لاف زن بعد از مدتی پائین آمد و از همراهش پرسید: «خرس در گوشت چه گفت؟». مرد پاسخ داد: «تنها به من نصیحت کرد که به لاف زن مغرور اعتماد نکنم.»

The wife thinks this sounds a bit fishy but being the good wife she is, did exactly what her husband asked.

The following Weekend he came home a little tired but otherwise looking good. The wife welcomed him home and asked if he caught many fish?

He said, "Yes! Lots of Salmon, some Bluegill, and a few Swordfish. But why didn't you pack my new blue silk pajamas like I asked you to do"? You'll love the answer... The wife replied, "I did. They're in your fishing box"....

On the last day Mr. Robinson said to him, 'How much is all this work going to cost?' The dentist said, 'Twenty-five pounds,' but he did not ask him for the money.

After a month Mr. Robinson phoned the dentist and said, 'You haven't asked me for any money for your work last month.'

'Oh,' the dentist answered, 'I never ask a gentleman for money.'

General Pershing

General Pershing was a famous American officer. He was in the American army, and fought in Europe in the First World War.

After he died, some people in his home town wanted to remember him, so they' put up a big statue of him on a horse.

There was a school near the statue, and some of the boys passed it every day on their way to school and again on their way home.

After a few months some of them began to say, 'Good morning, Pershing', whenever they passed the statue, and soon all the boys at the school were doing this.

One Saturday one of the smallest of these boys was walking to the shops with his mother when he passed the statue. He said, 'Good morning, Pershing' to it, but then he stopped and said to his mother, 'I like Pershing very much, Ma, but who's that funny man on his back?'
